Housing for Youth

Addressing Housing Insecurity

We have a number of supportive housing programs for youth connected to the foster care system, including rental supplements, landlord relations, tenancy education, shared/supportive housing, rehousing and more.

Support Link

The Support Link program provides transitional housing for teens currently connected to the foster care system who are looking to become independent and live on their own. With the help of Aunt Leah’s supportive community of staff and peers, youth participating in Support Link learn essential life skills that give them the confidence and ability to maintain their quality of life as they transition out of government care.

The Link: Housing First

The Link: Housing First program, a further extension of The Link program, provides participants seeking housing or at-risk of experiencing homelessness immediate access to housing and regular support services. The Housing First program ensures that youth in great need can enter difficult rental markets, secure and maintain housing, and develop essential life skills.

The Friendly Landlord Network

The Friendly Landlord Network is a Metro Vancouver-wide network of homeowners and property managers, who rent suites to youth transitioning out of government care. Friendly Landlords receive market rent and tenancy support from a coalition of experienced youth serving organizations.

Housing and Education Program Subsidy

The HELPS program provides housing subsidies to youth formerly in care so they may continue to pursue their education in a supportive space. Youth participating in HELPS can focus on their studies while making positive steps towards independence with the help of Aunt Leah’s support staff.

Lale House

Lale House gives safe, affordable communal housing for youth transitioning from foster care within a single-detached home. The house provides shared accommodation for 4-5 young people at a time.

Please contact your Aunt Leah’s support worker to see if this program is for you and get on the waitlist.
